Mitigation BankingWest Yellow Creek Mitigation Site
Stream and Wetland Restoration
This project preserves and restores approximately 12,310 linear feet of West Yellow Creek and a Tributary in the Grand/Chariton Watershed. Seven rock grade controls were installed on West Yellow Creek and the unnamed Tributary; the riparian corridor was restored and enhanced where needed.
Along with stream restoration this project restored, enhanced, protected, and/or preserves 34.5 acres of forested wetland, 17.5 acres of emergent wetland, and 23.1 acres of forested wetland buffer.
Construction was completed in the Fall of 2024.
As of 2025 West Yellow Creek just had its first of five monitoring reports. All grade control structures are in place and functioning properly, invasive species are being maintained well, and the seed mix/woody plantings were observed to be established on the property.
